Painter's suspended scaffolds have a platform supported by
bearers suspended by rope from overhead supports. They are arranged and operated
to permit the raising or lowering of the platform to desired working
positions.
This scaffold is not exclusive to painters. All workers may use this
type of staging.
Note: Block and tackle is no longer a recommended method of hoisting
and lowering this scaffold. Newer methods of ship repair and construction
have greatly reduced the use of this type of scaffold.
