AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING AN ALLIANCE BETWEEN THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND THE CENTER FOR BUSINESS AND PUBLIC POLICY, MCDONOUGH SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY
The Occupational Safety a nd Health Administration (OSHA) and the Center for Business and Public Policy (CBPP) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful American workplaces. OSHA and CBPP hereby form an Alliance to use their collective expertise to help foster a culture of prevention while sharing best practices and technical knowledge. OSHA and CBPP will work together to provide training and education in workplace safety and health by: Working cooperatively to facilitate an active dialogue on safety and health issues by supporting an annual Workplace Safety Summit held at Georgetown University.   Participating in the ongoing Industry, Policy, and Safety Seminar Series which brings together leading scholars, business leaders, and policy officials to discuss research related to issues at the intersection of business and public policy, especially those issues related to workplace safety and health.   Encouraging the development of sound research by business and economic scholars to investigate the economic and ethical dimensions of workplace safety and health.   Encouraging the advancement of workplace safety and health as a topic for education in business schools' curricula.   Exploring opportunities for educating the current executive workforce through executive education courses designed to raise awareness of the business value and competitive advantage associated with excellence in safety and health. OSHA and CBPP will work together to achieve the following outreach and communication goals: Participating in working group meetings that explore workplace safety and health and other policy issues and create networks of mutual interest.   Sharing information to be appropriately disseminated on OSHA's and CBPP' respective Web pages.   Speaking, exhibiting, or appearing at conferences, local meetings, or other events. An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, they will meet at least quarterly to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance. Team members will include representatives of OSHA's Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs and any other appropriate offices. This agreement will remain in effect for two years from the date of signing. Either signatory may terminate it for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written notice.
