Alliance Overview:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Philippines, Washington, D.C., formed an Alliance to provide Filipino workers and employers in Florida information, guidance, and access to education and training resources that will help them protect the rights of workers under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act).
Implementation Team Members:
The implementation team consists of representatives from the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Philippines in Washington, D.C., the OSHA Area Offices in Alabama and Georgia, as well as the Atlanta Regional Office.

The group conducted Alliance implementation team meetings, in person, by telephone, and through e-mail correspondence on the following dates: November 1, 2013; January 31, 2014; March 10, 2014; March 25, 2014; and June 17, 2014.

Outreach and Communication
Events
- During this event period, the Consular Section of the Philippine Embassy was encouraged to support OSHA's National Fall Prevention Safety Stand-down, as well as OSHA's Heat Illness Prevention Campaigns. Additionally, OSHA's outreach material supporting both campaigns was shared with the Alliance group.
- On November 2, 2013, the OSHA Atlanta-East Area Office and the Atlanta Regional Office supported the Consular Section of the Philippine Embassy's outreach effort conducted in Buford, Georgia. The Consular was provided with a wide range of OSHA outreach material was also distributed during this event.
- On November 7, 2013, an article regarding the signing of an OSHA Alliance with the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Philippines, Washington, D.C, was featured in the U.S. Department of Labor Newsletter.
- On November 15, 2013, an article regarding the signing of an OSHA Alliance with the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Philippines, Washington, D.C, was featured in OSHA QuickTakes (Volume 12, Issue 21). The OSHA QuickTakes is an e-newsletter which is issued twice a monthly regarding workplace safety and health.
- During this period, OSHA representatives worked with the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Philippines, Washington, D.C, to coordinate the following mobile consulate visits in OSHA's Region IV State Plan States:
- On April 26, 2014, in Havelock, North Carolina
- On May 17 through 18, 2014, in Cordova, Tennessee
- On May 20, 2014, in Smyrna, Tennessee
- On July 4 through 6, 2014, in Lexington, Kentucky
- On August 1 through 3, 2014, in Goose Creek, South Carolina
- During this period, OSHA representatives worked with the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Philippines, Washington, D.C, to coordinate the following mobile consulate visits in OSHA's Region IV Federal enforcement states:
- On May 31, 2014, in Montgomery, Alabama
- On July 19, 2014, in Augusta, Georgia

Upcoming Milestones
- The Alliance group will continue to effectively coordinate with the Consular Section of the Philippine Embassy to ensure that mobile consulate visits in Region IV are properly supported by OSHA Area Offices, as well as State Plan States.
- The Alliance group will continue to work cooperatively with the Consular Section of the Philippine Embassy to effectively promote the need for safety and health management systems, especially among the Filipino small business community.
- The Alliance group will continue to promote OSHA's Fall Prevention and Heat Illness Prevention Campaigns throughout the Filipino community in OSHA's Region IV.
