On July 17, 2012, members of the Alliance group, through the Center for Young Worker Safety and Health at GTRI, conducted two young worker safety and health training sessions for instructors during the Georgia Career & Technical Education (GACTE) Conference in Cobb County, GA.
On July 19, 2012, members of the Alliance group conducted safety and health training sessions for instructors at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia.
In September 2012, the CEFGA conducted an OSHA 10-hour construction safety and health training course for career technology instructors.
On September 10 through 13, 2012, members of the Alliance group conducted an OSHA 10-hour construction safety and health training course for career technology students enrolled at Maxwell High School in Gwinnett County, Georgia.
On September 19 through 20, 2012, the CEFGA conducted an OSHA 10-hour construction safety and health training course for career technology instructors.
On September 20, 2012, members of the Alliance group, through the Center for Young Worker Safety and Health at GTRI, conducted a young worker safety and health training session for students enrolled in the Cosmetology Program at North Murray High School in Chatsworth, Georgia.

In December 2012, members of the Alliance group, led by the Center for Young Worker Safety and Health at GTRI, conducted an OSHA 10-hour construction safety and health training course for career technology students at Cross Keys High School in DeKalb County, Georgia.

On January 25 through 26, 2013, members of the Alliance group, through the Center for Young Worker Safety and Health at GTRI, conducted a young worker safety and health training sessions for instructors during the Trade and Industrial Educators of Georgia (TIEGA) Conference.
In February 26 through 28, 2013, members of the Alliance group conducted an OSHA 10-hour construction safety and health training course for students enrolled in the FACAA Youthbuild Program.
On March 5 through 7, 2013, members of the Alliance group conducted an OSHA 10-hour construction safety and health training course for students enrolled in the Atlanta Workforce Development Youthbuild Program.
The Young Worker Safety and Health Center conducted its training modules 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 at the following dates and locations:

The Young Worker Safety and Health Center conducted its training module 3 and 7 at the following dates and locations:

On June 17 and 18, 2013, during the >MAGIC (Mentoring a Girl in Construction) Summer Camp at Cass High School

On March 21 - 22, 2013, the Alliance group supported the CEFGA CareerExpo at the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC). This event includes exhibitors, demonstrations and hands-on activities. The Expo was conducted in conjunction with the Georgia SkillsUSA competitions. The goal of this event was to raise awareness of careers in construction, engineering, architecture, transportation, and energy. The event represented a cooperative effort by private companies, trade associations, universities, and government agencies.
Total conference participation was 6,266, which included 4,651 students and 347 company volunteers. A total of 237 schools participated in the CareerExpo.
Exhibit booths were staffed by OSHA, Georgia Tech Onsite Consultation Program, AIHA, ASSE and the US DOL - WHD, as well as Brasfield & Gorrie and Georgia Institute of Technology. The AIHA-Georgia Local Section (GLS) booth focused on preventing noise-induced hearing loss (among teen workers). Students were also provided with a down-load of the OSHA Heat Stress App. The GA-ASSE Chapter provided participants with gloves and hearing protection and discussed the importance of personal protective equipment.
Members of the Alliance group served as judges for the SkillsUSA state competition, including the Occupational Health and Safety contest.
During this period, members of the Georgia Youth Alliance also participated in the following career day events:

Federal Executive Board (FEB), Federal Government Open House for High School students at the Carter Museum and Library in Atlanta, Georgia (4/22/13)
On March 22, 2013, representatives from the GACBP judged the SkillsUSA competition for Cosmetology. The events included the following: Cosmetology Competition, a Nail Competition and an Esthetic Competition. GACBP provided a total of 8 volunteers. After the competition ended, the GACBP volunteers assisted in compiling and tallying the votes, as well as preparing the packets that determined the winners.
On June 26 - 27, 2013, a representative from the GACBP attended the SkillsUSA National Competition in Kansas City, Missouri, as a Georgia Delegate.

- Upcoming Milestones for 2013 - 14
Renew the Alliance in December 2013 and expand the group of participating organizations.
Continue to provide Kell High School, Robotics Team, as well other robotics team students in metro Atlanta, Georgia, with safety and health training.
Participate in the Trade and Industrial Educators of Georgia (TIEGA) Conference in January 2014.
Continue to participate in the Construction CareerExpo led by the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA) scheduled for March 13 - 14, 2014. This event includes exhibitors, demonstrations, hands-on activities and the Skills USA competitions.
Participate in the Georgia Career & Technical Education (GACTE) Conference in July 2014.

Overview:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Georgia Local Section - American Industrial Hygiene Association (GLS-AIHA), the Georgia Chapter - American Society of Safety Engineers (GA-ASSE), the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA), the Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE), and the Georgia Tech Research Institute’s Occupational Safety and Health Division (GTRI) formed an Alliance focused on providing career/technical educators, students and others with information, guidance and training resources to protect the safety and health of career/technical students.
The implementation team included representatives from all of the Alliance participants, as well as the US DOL - Wage and Hour Division (WHD). Implementation team meetings were conducted as scheduled on the following dates: 7/16/2012; 8/13/2012; 9/25/2012; 1/29/2013; and 2/21/2013.
