   3. Overview

      The purpose of this Alliance is to establish a collaborative relationship with Project BEST members with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect the health and safety of workers, particularly by addressing hazards associated with construction activities, and understand their rights and responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act).

   In addition to these formal meetings, the Alliance coordinators from both groups maintained regular contact throughout the reporting period to monitor the Alliance's progress and results.

3. Results

   The following table summarizes the Alliance's activities in support of the goals in the Alliance agreement.

   Raising Awareness of OSHA’s Rulemaking and Enforcement Initiatives: To share information on OSHA's National/Regional/Local Emphasis Programs, Regulatory Agenda, and provide opportunities to participate in the rulemaking process. To share information on occupational safety and health laws and standards, including the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers. To encourage worker participation in workplace safety and health.

   Training and Education: To develop effective training and education programs for the different trades represented by Project BEST regarding the "focus four" hazards of falls, struck-by, caught-in and electrical. To develop effective training and education programs for the different trades represented by Project BEST to promote understanding of workers' rights, including the use of the OSHA complaint process, and the responsibilities of employers and to communicate such information to workers and employers.

   Outreach and Communication: To develop information on the recognition and prevention of workplace hazards, and to develop ways of communicating such information (e.g., print and electronic media, electronic assistance tools, OSHA's and the Project BEST websites and Project BEST's weekly safety and health bulletins) to employers and workers in the industry. To speak, exhibit, or appear at OSHA's or Project BEST's conferences, apprenticeship training programs, and monthly safety committee meetings. To share information among OSHA personnel and industry safety and health professionals regarding Project BEST's good practices or effective approaches through training programs, workshops, seminars, and lectures (or any other applicable forum) developed by the participants.

   Other	Project BEST's consultant works directly with the Columbus Compliance Assistance Specialist and requests input on Project BEST's weekly safety bulletins that include OSHA fatality statistics, campaigns, and initiatives. The weekly bulletins include a safety brief/toolbox talk and information on upcoming OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour construction classes offered by Project BEST. 4. Evaluations

   During the annual report evaluation period, Project BEST mostly communicated through phone calls and email. Even, though there was less in-person meetings, members of Project BEST contacted the Columbus Area Office with safety and health questions and complaints. In-person meetings will be emphasized with the upcoming evaluation period.

5. Upcoming Milestones

   Project BEST has a new executive directive. Additionally, the organization is currently in the process of hiring a new safety consultant and re-evaluating its safety services to their members.
