Overview
The Alliance with The Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas, Texas, and the OSHA Dallas and Fort Worth Area Offices is directed towards reducing injuries, illnesses and fatalities in the construction and the general industries. The Consulate of Mexico offers general civil information to Mexican Nationals waiting for their passports and ID Cards at the lobbies of the Consulate and designated locations during semi-annual Mobile Consulate events.

Implementation Team Meetings
Worker Rights week was held on the last week of August, 2017. Compliance Assistance Specialist (CAS) Elias Vela was invited to present briefings and Power-point presentations in the lobby of the Consulate of Mexico, where an audience of approximately 100 to 200 Mexican Nationals were attentive and participated in question and answer sessions.
CAS Elias Vela returned monthly to the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas to provide verbal OSHA Labor Rights presentations and outreach literature in Spanish was distributed from an exhibit table provided. Elias Vela met with Alejandro Huerta Lopez on a routine basis to discuss updates.
OSHA Dallas Area Director Basil Singh and CAS met with General Consul of Mexico Francisco de la Torre Galindo, on or about Feb 26, 2018 to discuss the Alliance progress and future collaboration.
In addition to these formal meetings, the Alliance coordinators from both groups maintained regular contact throughout the reporting period to monitor the Alliance's progress and results.
Results
The following table summarizes the Alliance's activities in support of the goals in the Alliance agreement.
Participation in the alliance has helped maintain and improve the knowledge and sharing of best practices. In addition to the meetings covering National Safety Stand-Down for Preventing Falls in Construction, heat stress, distracted driving policies, and other topics, information on fatality trends, and best practices, was provided. During these meetings, OSHA outreach literature was distributed to the attendees.
Outreach and Communication: Develop information on the recognition and prevention of workplace hazards, and ways of communication such information to Mexican Nationals working in North Texas. To speak, exhibit, or appear at the Participants' conferences, local meetings, or other events. Participate in "Mobile Consulate" activities and events. Upcoming Milestones
The tenth annual Labor Rights Week will take place at the Consulate of Mexico on Aug 27 to Sep 1, 2018. The renewal Alliance Accord between the OSHA Dallas and Fort Worth Area Offices and the Consulate of Mexico are not scheduled to be renewed until August of 2019.
The last Monday of each month, the CAS or other representative from the Dallas and or Fort Worth Area Offices will have the opportunity to address the patrons of the Consulate of Mexico in Dallas, providing information on worker's rights to safe and healthful work places and employer responsibilities in Spanish.
