Speaker Notes:
For the injury and illness statistics, Subpart C is the most important section of the rule, because
it defines which cases should be recorded on the OSHA 300 Log and which should not be recorded.
The sections of the rule follow the process for deciding if a case is recordable: determining if
the employee experienced an injury or illness; if the injury or illness is work-related; if it is a
new case; and, whether it meets the general recording criteria or the special criteria for a
specific injury/illness type.
