Outside Personnel (Contractors) What are the obligations of the outside contractor and the on-site employer? Whenever contractors and other outside servicing personnel perform tasks covered by the Lockout/Tagout standard, they must adhere to all the standard's requirements [29 CFR 1910.147(a)(1); 29 CFR 1910.147(a)(2); 29 CFR 1910.147(a)(3)(i); 29 CFR 1910.147(f)(2)(i)]. The contractor or outside employer and the on-site employer must inform each other of their respective lockout or tagout procedures [29 CFR 1910.147(f)(2)(i)].
