TEXT VERSION OF SLIDE:
Type: Picture Slide
Content: Includes photo of workers performing operations with local exhaust
systems installed.
Speaker Notes: The most effective control of silica in the air is by the use of
local enclosed exhaust ventilation. When a process of operation is enclosed,
and the system is properly designed, a slight vacuum, creating a negative
pressure, ensures that any leakage will result in the flow of outside air into
the enclosure. A well-designed local exhaust system that encloses the process
on all sides is best.
